Mental Health Crisis

There are times in our life when our distress exceeds our internal and external resources and begins to affect our ability to cope with day-to-day life. When this happens, we're experiencing a mental health crisis... a time where our minds can start to shut down. We may find it harder to communicate and to problem-solve. It is a mental health crisis and important to act now, follow your safety plan, access your support.

  • Contact your General Practitioner (GP) to talk about your mental health crisis options.

  • Ask your GP to refer you to a local NHS mental health team who can help you through your crisis.

  • If you can't get in touch with your GP, or you're having to wait too long, contact NHS 111 (UK only), select the mental health option, and connect to someone who can guide you to your local crisis mental health support services.

  • If you already have access to your local Crisis Team, call them immediately on the number they provided.
